CWC Newsletter | Vol. 2

Hi Fam,

It’s March, and you know what that means. Spring is right around the corner!

With spring on its way, the days are getting longer, plants are beginning to bud and animals (including us) are emerging from their winter caves.

A few fun things are happening at CWC in March. First there is the monthly educational Instagram series and this month’s series focuses on one of my favorite topics: Macronutrients!! This is the topic I wish someone had taught me when I started on my self-healing journey. It wasn’t until my endocrine crash in 2020 that I discovered macronutrients and the importance of them. Turns out at the time, that my body was struggling to digest protein and fats, leaving me running predominantly on carbs. No wonder my endocrine system crashed. Proteins and fats are essential for hormone development and use. Follow-along on Instagram to learn more.

Also, in case you missed it, check out last month’s series on rest. It’s never too late to incorporate more rest into one’s life, and given the various forms of rest, there is an option for everyone.

Another project I am working on is a second product offering. I’m still working out the final touches, but keep an eye out on Instagram for the announcement once it is live. I’m really excited about this one!

Favorite Things

Below are some of my current favorite wellness tools and resources. I don’t have any affiliate or sponsorship relationship with any of these. I’m just a big fan. Passing them along as they might be supportive to your health journey.

There is a common theme with this month’s favorite things and it is mental nutrition.

The colder months can do a number on our mental health, and although the days are getting longer, it still might take some time for our Vitamin D levels to rise and for us to shake the winter blues. Below are some resources that can help enhance our mental nutrition.

Ever since launching my Instagram series, I’ve been spending more time on Instagram and thanks to the algorithm I’m losing precious time scrolling through the Explore feed. Even with the option to schedule posts in advance, I’ve found it hard to walk away from Instagram.

I recently downloaded One Sec to help curb my social media time. It creates a pause or pattern interrupt when accessing the app. It’s been super helpful for me, often giving me a moment to remind myself of why I’m accessing Instagram. I then open the app and am able to get in and out in little to no time because I’ve got my intention top of mind while the app is open. This has been extremely supportive for my mental health, as it keeps me out of the comment sections of posts, which can often be a cesspool for divisiveness and an anxiety trigger.

There is a free one-week trial, for those interested in an annual subscription ($19.99/year), or if you want to start month-to-month it's $2.99/month.

Creative Expression (Free)

This might seem like an odd one to see on the list, but see this as a friendly reminder of the importance of creative expression for our mental, spiritual and physical nutrition. Sometimes verbal communication just doesn’t cut it. Sometimes there are emotions or sensations within our body that can’t be expressed in words. That is where creative expression comes in.

Although down-played by modern society, creative expression is extremely important for our health. Suppressed emotions and sensations can turn into chronic ailments. So if you find yourself trying to work through something, and therapy, journaling, or even somatic therapy isn’t cutting it, pick an artistic medium (painting, dancing, sculpting, knitting, designing, etc.) and let those emotions and sensation express themselves in a format other than words. (Tip: Consider different mediums and when you feel the emotions or sensations stir within you, you know you’ve got the right one.)

Until next month, be well.
